In both novels, "Of Mice and Men"and "The Road" the main characters all had a goal. In "Of Mice and Men" George and Lennie had dreams of owning there own farm while in "The Road" the man and his son had dreams of getting south. In both novels the goals and dreams had not succeeded due to the death of one of the characters. In "Of Mice and Men" it was George who had died and the goal was broken, while in "The Road" the man and died and the dream of making it south had died as well. Dreams and fantasies were taking place in both novels although the characters were living in a corrupt world. In "The Road" the boy was always waking up to a dream but his father had said if he had dream of good things he had given up. In "Of Mice and Men"dreams and goals were more open and free unlike The Road.
Both novels had several similarities when it comes to idealism vs. reality. Idealism and Reality are constantly fighting in one world in the two stories. They are both amazing novels that I have read that could be seen the same in several ways. I hope fellow bloggers enjoyed and have the time to read both novels!
